The Instrument

I like to think of my first album 'The Instrument,' almost like a travelogue or a sampler that showcased a wide variety of musical ideas I had been working on up to  the point of making the recording.

When I set out recording this project, I was very much aware of wanting to fill the space that exists between the here and now. That area that exists somewhere between the conscious and the unconscious thoughts.

  • Row Row Row Your Boat
Play Row Row Row Your BoatRow Row Row Your BoatRow Row Row Your Boat

This song has always meant a lot to me.

The first time I ever heard it, I got it! I have tried to brought out the floating on water quality that is within the chorus structure of the song. I have always felt this song was a powerful meditative piece for young and old.

A teaching song on how to successfully complete one's journey through life.

  • We Are Climbing Jacobs Ladder
Play We Are Climbing Jacobs LadderWe Are Climbing Jacobs LadderWe Are Climbing Jacobs Ladder

This song has always stood as a testament to the oppressed everywhere. I sang this song often as a child and my understanding of it has continued to grow with me as I entered adulthood.

When I sing it now, I always see images of my ancestors moving in spirit towards freedom.

  • Children of The Future
Play Children of The FutureChildren of The FutureChildren of The Future

I wanted to write a song that would serve as a reminder that consciousness work is never done. The song deals with the fact that our behavior as a child is carried over into our adulthood.

We, everyone of us are the children of the future. Therefore as long as we are living and breathing we should seek to do good work for not only mankind but the planet we share.
